At these institutions, he not only gained academic knowledge but also learned the art of collaboration, mentorship and motivation, becoming a role model for peers who witnessed his dedication firsthand.

Origins and Vision

The History of the Millennial Economic Forum

The Millennial Economic Forum was born from the vision of Aahil Mushtaq, during his formative years in global academic programmes. While attending summer schools at Oxford and Cambridge, he observed how students abroad were encouraged to think critically, share ideas openly and actively contribute to discussions on real-world challenges.

He realized that while students in Pakistan had immense talent and ambition, there was no structured platform that allowed them to explore economic, social and technological issues in a meaningful and practical way. This gap inspired Aahil to create a forum that could empower young minds to think critically, act decisively and lead initiatives that could have a real impact on their communities and beyond

From Concept to Community

The journey from an idea to an actual organization was far from easy. Aahil began by sketching out his thoughts, planning what such a forum could look like and considering what values it should embody. He sought advice from mentors, educators and leaders he had met during his international programmes.

Their guidance helped him understand how to structure a youth-led organization, organize events, and build a community that thrives on collaboration. Alongside this, he connected with peers who shared his vision and passion. Together, they formed the initial core team of the Millennial Economic Forum, committed to turning the idea into reality.

Early Initiatives

The first steps were modest. Pilot workshops, leadership discussions and small community projects were organized to test the concept and understand the needs of students. Aahil personally led many of these initiatives, learning from both successes and challenges.

He noticed that even small actions, when guided by purpose and collaboration, could inspire change. These early experiences laid the foundation for MEF’s philosophy: leadership is best learned through action, teamwork strengthens ideas and meaningful change begins with empowered youth.

Growth and Impact

As the forum gradually grew, it started attracting students from different schools and communities, all eager to participate in programs that encouraged critical thinking, research and engagement with global economic and social issues. Under Aahil’s leadership, MEF evolved into a platform that not only nurtures young leaders but also promotes a culture of responsibility, innovation and active contribution. Aahil’s dedication ensured that the forum stayed true to its mission, always emphasizing the importance of collaboration, learning and making a tangible difference.

Legacy of Vision

Today, the Millennial Economic Forum stands as a testament to Aahil Mushtaq’s vision, perseverance, and belief in the potential of youth. What began as a simple idea inspired by global experiences has transformed into a thriving organization that encourages students across Pakistan to think boldly, act decisively and contribute meaningfully to society.

The history of MEF is not just about an organization; it is about the journey of empowering young minds, creating opportunities for dialogue, and fostering a generation of leaders who are prepared to shape the future.
